  13. Welcome to the Tampa Bay Amiga Group's Disk of the Month. This disk is a
  14. collection of some of the best Public Domain & Shareware Software available
  15. for the Amiga. There is no charge for these programs and may be given away
  16. freely. If there are any files on here that are not in the Public Domain or
  17. Shareware, let us know so we can remove them.

  19. If the Amiga is your first computer then getting use to the Workbench
  20. environment was probably rather simple. Now don't get me wrong, there is
  21. alot to learn about it, but using the mouse & icons was an easy concept to
  22. grasp. You click a picture that represents the task you want to perform,
  23. the program is loaded, and your up and running.
  24.  
  25. The TBAG disk have been a very popular collection. Second only to the Fred
  26. Fish disk in Europe & Australia and really starting to catch on here the U.S.
  27. as well. The format I have used for the past few years has received a lot of
  28. comments, but I was getting tired of the same old thing so decided to vamp it
  29. up a bit. Thanks to Leo Martin for helping with the graphics. The new setup
  30. takes advantage of both cli & workbench files in a very easy to use format.
  31. The new program is called the Activator and docs on how it runs are on Disk 40
  32.  
  33. Now for the Multi-tasking set up. You will notice that all the windows open
  34. at the same place. This leaves the rest of the screen open to use disk icons
  35. and to move files from drawer to drawer via the icons. To see the different
  36. windows simply use the front & back gadgets to flip from window to window.
  37. This disk is set up for Dos 1.2 so it has a Ram Disk icon. Frequently used
  38. files may be moved into the ram window for super fast access. Programs such
  39. as picture files can be loaded, then using the front & back gadgets you can
  40. flip through the different screens. This set up takes full advantage of the
  41. front & back gadgets. Once you get use to this format you can set up all
  42. your Workbench type disk this way. Just replace the files in the drawers
  43. with your own selection of programs and rename the drawers to suit your
  44. needs. If you have a two drive system you can have both disk set up the
  45. same way. The more memory you have the more useful the format becomes.

  48. Now if you owned a computer before you are more familiar with how to work
  49. in the CLI environment than Workbench (unless you owned a Macintosh). Now
  50. alot of people just stick to CLI and never take advantage of Workbench.
  51. Most say the reason is they can't do everything they need to do from
  52. Workbench. Truth is, Habits are hard to break. You get set in your ways,
  53. what is the name of the author of the famous powerpacker crunching prog
  54. but with programs such as Dirutil that takes the place of many CLI commands,
  55. this is slowly changing. As the Workbench environment gets more efficient
  56. more people will start using it. Our format gives you the best of both
  57. worlds. Taking advantage of all the Workbench options plus a CLI window you
  58. can enter those needed keyboard commands.
